The SWE Series Basket Type Screw Press delivers superior process efficiency with high filtration precision, a clog-resistant V-profile wire structure, and low pressure drop. It is a screw press with an inclined bowl capable of continuous solid discharge via a conveyor screw, with variable screw speed and torque power. The SWE Series has been designed for dewatering sludge following thickening in wastewater treatment plants, achieving high dryness.
Operating Principle
After the product enters the system, the sludge advances through the inclined bowl made of basket type (wedge wire) screens with the help of the screw. The sludge is dewatered by the basket type screens while water is filtered through the gaps between the screens. As water is filtered inside the screen, the water content of the solid phase decreases and dryness increases. The solid phase, progressively dewatered along the screen, is pressed through the pressure cone at the bowl discharge to achieve maximum dryness. Screen cleaning is performed automatically by spraying pressurised water at periodic intervals. When the amount of inlet solids changes, the pressure cone automatically adjusts the compression rate to ensure maximum-dryness solid discharge.
SWE Series — Specific Components
■ Screen (Wedge Wire)
Wedge wire screens maximise process performance through their superior filtration precision and clog-resistant V-profile wire structure. They ensure energy efficiency through low pressure drop while delivering more stable and uninterrupted operation across the system. Their durable and long-lasting construction, hygienic design and minimal maintenance requirements reduce operating costs while providing a reliable and sustainable solution for industrial applications.
■ Screw Conveyor
The special scraper design incorporated throughout all screw flights effectively prevents material build-up, guaranteeing uninterrupted and stable operation of the pressing process. This reduces production stoppages, minimises maintenance time and costs, while sustainably preserving process efficiency.
■ Moving Washing System
The moving washing system, which plays a critical role in maintaining continuous performance, is designed to provide homogeneous and balanced flow — whether operated automatically or under operator control. This delivers uninterrupted, high-performance operation without loss of efficiency in production processes.
Shared Features and Components
■ Automatic Solid Discharge Gap
The solid discharge gap is automatically adjusted via the discharge pressure according to variable solid rates. It provides automatic and precise adjustment for solid rates that change throughout the day in operation, replacing manual adjustment. This feature ensures dewatering that always delivers clear results for variable sludge types by allowing the operator to enter the desired pressure value, replacing an approximate or average manual setting.
■ Drive Unit
Thanks to the low-speed drive, it does not produce disturbing noise and saves energy. The drive system does not require external lubrication. The drive system is controlled by an inverter that adjusts the rotational speed, controls the power used, and provides smooth start/stop.
■ Control Panel
The electrical panel of HAUS screw presses provides maximum convenience with the user interface (HMI). From solid discharge pressure to screw speed, and from washing time and frequency to feed flow rate — PLC software solutions are offered that enable all controls required for operating the screw press to be carried out both automatically and manually, as well as optionally controlling other auxiliary equipment from the panel.
