DAF Systems
DAF System stands for Dissolved Air Flotation.
It is an efficient separation system which is relies on separation of the solid matter using skimmers upon floating/concentrating them with dissolved air depending on the concentration difference.
Purified water and air mixture is fed to the system. In continuous process, high quantities of air bubbles in 30 to 50 micron diameters are produced. While air bubbles rise slowly solid matter, protein, grease and oils are carried upwards. Slime layer formed on the surface is removed from the system by being skimmed by a mechanical skimmer.
DAF systems are used in waste water treatment at plants where production processes include greasy type - solid matter is of floatable type.Slaughterhouses
Meat Processing Plants
Fish processing plants
Dairy Plants
Ice Cream Plants
Gelatin factories
Canned vegetable
Since waste waters produced by such plants contain oil-fat and protein, pre-separation is required to be performed with DAF System before treatment.

DAF System Process – Physical Method Oil Recovery and Dehydration
DAF System is used in plants where oil content of the waste waters is high. Dewatering performance of the concentrated sludge received from DAF Systems depends on efficient operation of the DAF system and the adequacy of chemical conditioning. Water delivered to the waste water treatment plant is firstly taken to the stabilization tank. It is fed to the DAF system from the tank and low solid matter content is concentrated through chemical conditioning. Concentrated sediment phase is taken to the concentration tanks and fed into HAUS dewatering decanters to ensure separation into solid and liquid phases.
Concentrated sludge following Physical Floatation (with chemical addition or not) is not heated and polyelectrolyte is fed to the decanter input to ensure 2 phase solid - liquid separation. Through use of polyelectrolyte, it is aimed to coagulate the solid matter in the sludge and to form an emission from oil and solid matter.

Oily sludge is taken in a concentrated manner by performing Physical Floatation. Concentrated sludge is heated to 85-90°C and dewatering is performed with 3-phase decanter to ensure oil recovery.
Chemical agents (FeCl3, Lime, Alum, Pac, Polymer etc.) are added to the DAF system for chemical floatation to ensure coagulation of the waste water. Following coagulation, the sludge is concentrated and heated to 85-90°C temperature and separated into its phases upon being fed in 2/3 phase decanter centrifuge.
