The SDE Series Disc Type Screw Press features an inclined bowl made of moving and stationary discs that acts as a filter, mounted on a robust casing that supports all mechanical and safety components. The bowl made of moving and stationary discs prevents clogging while enabling easy cleaning. The screw has a gradually narrowing pitch design to ensure more filtration at the inlet and more compression towards the discharge end.
The SDE Series has a separate tank at the final section of the bowl for filtrate water with a relatively high solid content that could adversely affect filtrate quality. The filtrate collected in this tank is pumped back to the wastewater feed or thickening tank to achieve the maximum level of solids capture. The automatically controlled washing system ensures the bowl remains clean at all times with minimal water usage.
The motor is driven by a frequency converter that provides smooth start/stop, rotational speed adjustment and power control. The PLC-controlled system is managed by pneumatic pistons that automatically adjust according to variable solid content to ensure high dryness with low energy consumption. All parts of the SDE Series are manufactured from high-quality stainless steel. At the solid discharge zone of the screw, screw flights are equipped with replaceable polyamide material to sweep solids cleanly from the inner wall of the bowl.
Operating Principle
After the product enters the system, the sludge advances through the inclined bowl made of moving and stationary discs with the help of the screw. The sludge is dewatered by the moving discs while water is filtered through the gaps between the discs. As water is filtered inside the bowl, the water content of the solid phase decreases and dryness increases. The solid phase, progressively dewatered along the bowl, is pressed through the pressure cone at the bowl discharge to achieve maximum dryness. Bowl cleaning is performed automatically by spraying pressurised water onto the bowl at periodic intervals. When the amount of inlet solids changes, the pressure cone automatically adjusts the compression rate to ensure maximum-dryness solid discharge.
SDE Series — Specific Components
■ Moving Disc
The system consisting of moving and stationary discs prevents clogging of the filtration structure. In this way, the system is able to dewater continuously and is suitable for operation without washing. However, washing can be carried out at any desired interval and duration, either manually or at the operator's discretion. The system is manufactured from AISI 304 high-quality stainless steel.
■ Screw Conveyor
The screw structure is designed to compress the volume of sludge at the ideal level at every step, in three dimensions. This makes it possible to reduce centrate leakage to zero while achieving maximum dryness. The screw is manufactured from AISI 304 high-quality stainless steel. At the solid discharge zone of the screw where dewatering reaches its maximum level, the screw flights are equipped with replaceable castermid parts to resist wear.

■ Automatic Solid Discharge Gap
The solid discharge gap is automatically adjusted via the discharge pressure according to variable solid rates. It provides automatic and precise adjustment for solid rates that change throughout the day in operation, replacing manual adjustment. This feature ensures dewatering that always delivers clear results for variable sludge types by allowing the operator to enter the desired pressure value, replacing an approximate or average manual setting.
■ Drive Unit
Thanks to the low-speed drive, it does not produce disturbing noise and saves energy. The drive system does not require external lubrication. The drive system is controlled by an inverter that adjusts the rotational speed, controls the power used, and provides smooth start/stop.
■ Control Panel
The electrical panel of HAUS screw presses provides maximum convenience with the user interface (HMI). From solid discharge pressure to screw speed, and from washing time and frequency to feed flow rate — PLC software solutions are offered that enable all controls required for operating the screw press to be carried out both automatically and manually, as well as optionally controlling other auxiliary equipment from the panel.
