HAUS IS COUNTING THE DAYS UNTIL ITS NEW CAMPUS

About our new campus, we had a pleasant conversation with Ersin Gözlüklü, who is Member of the Board of Directors of HAUS Makine Sanayi Tic. A.Ş. and General Manager of HAUS Yapı. He marked that our new campus is one of the biggest investments in the region currently, with an open area of 100 thousand square meters, a floor area of 65 thousand square meters and a construction area exceeding 70 thousand square meters in total and explained the process for us.

Can we briefly get to know you and HAUS Yapı?

I am Ersin Gözlüklü, one of the 3rd generation members of Haus Group. I am married and we will have a daughter in September. I completed my education in the Department of Economics at Izmir University of Economics. I am a member of the Board of Directors of Haus Makina and the General Manager of Haus Yapı.

Haus Yapı is a corporate company that has its feet firmly on the ground, observes the current market well and makes investment decisions within this framework. Its main mission is to touch the lives of its customers with a modern and innovative approach and to offer them spaces that are not only comfortable, but also of high quality, reliable, robust, with a refined sense of aesthetics and in harmony with nature and the environment. In parallel with this, another permanent goal of ours is to meticulously follow the innovations, technological developments and breakthroughs in the sector, to apply these transformations to each of our projects and thus to always produce projects for our customers in accordance with the dynamics of the age.

As HAUS Yapı, you are undertaking the construction of HAUS Campus, can you tell us a little about the process?

First of all, I am proud that Haus Yapı, of which I am the General Manager, is a part of the new campus of Haus, which is also our group company. The project investment was decided in 2018 and then we quickly determined the work areas we would need.

We started the architectural and construction processes of the project to reflect the HAUS vision and in accordance with industry 4.0. We met with competent architects who will adapt the sociocultural elements of our campus to the design in the most successful way. Finally, with more than 40 years of experience, we decided to set out with the Izmir-based BİROK Architecture company, which has implemented more than 400 industrial projects in the international arena. Thus, we took the first step of this giant investment. Our campus is 3 minutes away from our current headquarters and is located in the same organized industry.

How is construction process going further?

Our new campus, which we built with the principle of sustainability, currently stands out as one of the largest investments in the region with an open area of 100 thousand square meters, a floor session area of 65 thousand square meters and a total construction area of more than 70 thousand square meters. The construction of the project, which started in June 2020, is planned to deliver the production areas in the 2nd quarter of 2023, and at the end of 2023, the 2400 square meter administrative building No. 1 will be delivered in the first stage, and towards the end of 2024, the main administrative building No. 2 of 6500 square meters and 7500 square meters of landscaping works will be completed and delivered.

In the campus, we have 2 administrative buildings of 8900 square meters in total, 1600 square meters of in-plant blue collar office and support areas, as well as a 1650 square meter modern dining hall and 800 square meters of changing and dressing areas.

Since the beginning of the process, the Haus Yapı team has worked on every square meter of the work since it is its own business and carries out the processes with its own staff of architects, civil engineers and technical staff. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ömer Gözlüklü, our Chairman of the Board of Directors, and my entire team for their efforts in the process.

So, what could be said when it is examined the new factory from a technical and architectural point of view?

As you know, since our Aydın province is located in the 1st degree earthquake zone, as the management, we decided to manufacture our factory entirely from modern, structural steel in order to differentiate from the standard line of our competitors with the suitability of the building to the conditions of the region, its modern appearance and the standard line of our competitors. In this process, we used over 6 thousand tons of steel. We preferred membrane panels, which are the latest technology product on the roof. By providing impermeability in SPP applications, we discharge rainwater with siphonic systems with two angled slopes.

In total, we used 60 thousand square meters of roof panels and 15 thousand square meters of facade panels. We also used a total of 35000 m3 of concrete and 15000 trucks of excavation in ground improvements. Our production area has 75 overhead cranes, 3 transformer stations with 8500kVA power and 20 different manufacturing and storage locations.

While designing our campus, we visited over 100 projects, newly built factories and countless suppliers. We identified the best points of each of them and drew our own line based on these reference points. After determining the details with our own technical design team, we adapted them to the architecture and carefully created the infrastructure mechanical installations excavation works, manufacturing of suspension apparatus, clean water and domestic water lines, air lines, fire lines assemblies by Haus Yapı's expert engineers and architects. Each of these works we have done meticulously, time and labor, in accordance with international norms, by passing tests.

When talking about this place, it is specifically called the new campus. Why do you call it a campus and not just a factory?

This is an area of 100,000 square meters and includes 2 separate administrative buildings, 2 security buildings, 1 factory building, an independent modern dining hall, social facilities, canteen and modern staff dressing buildings, all within a single parcel. We use the term campus because it has such a wide scope.

HAUS is a company that always emphasizes the principle of respect for nature. Is it possible to see the traces of this in the construction of the new campus?

Nowadays, as you know, environmentally friendly moves such as using the resources we have in the most efficient way, becoming independent in energy and reducing carbon emissions have become very important. Studies are being carried out in many sectors in these areas, and we are one of the companies that follow these studies sensitively.

As you know, solar energy is a very important resource for our world. For this reason, we decided to install GES (solar energy system) on our roof. We aim to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by investing 2.5 Mega Watt renewable energy in the power plant in the first stage. In this way, approximately 2,150 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented annually.

With the GES (solar energy system), we will provide 100 percent of our operational energy consumption from renewable energy sources and the sun. In this way, we will realize our goal of providing our electricity consumption from green energy in an environmentally friendly and much more economical way in the long term.

In addition, with the project developed by Ömer Gözlüklü, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haus Makine regarding boron oil consumption, we recycled the boron oils used in CNC machines in the machining department and installed a separate treatment plant. As a result, we have achieved a 40 percent consumption advantage in annual boron oil consumption.

Finally, we are planning to recycle the food residues and wastes from the dining hall with the machine produced by Haus Makine and use them as fertilizer in our landscaping areas.

What will be the production volume of the new campus?

With the machinery investments we have made and will make in our new campus, we aim to reach 2 times our current production volume in 3 years and 3 times in the next 5 years.

Can we say that HAUS's new campus will increase the share of Aydin's industrial development?

Indirectly, we can say yes, because HAUS's new campus will provide industrial employment in Aydın both through direct recruitment and through the growth of our suppliers and the establishment of new suppliers. From this perspective, we will of course positively affect the volume of Aydın industry. We will continue to train qualified personnel for the industry with the training programs we carry out in our new campus.

We will play a significant role in closing the current account deficit, as we will reduce the number of imported machines and increase the number of exported machines. We will contribute to the growth of the machinery manufacturing industry.

In summary, we will contribute to the increase in Aydın's export figures from many different branches.
