Could you please introduced yourself?

My name is Serkan Sayın. I have been the director of Agricultural Credit Union Agricultural Products Inc., Gömeç Branch. It is an affiliate of Agricultural Cooperatives of Turkey. It is a company that was established in 2003. As the Gömeç Branch, by making olive and olive oil production here, wecover all the needs of Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Turkey. In addition to this, we supply products and olive oil to various supermarkets. In our factory, there are both olive oil and table olive sections. We have 2 pieces of a 120 t/day, and 1 piece of an 80 t/day machine. We had them set up last year. Previously in 2010, we had had another machine from HAUS with grant- in-aid funding. We preferred HAUS for service and pricing. We are pleased with the efficiency of our machines. This is the property of the Turkish farmer and, we are here to fulfill our duty in the best way and then we aim to transfer to the next generation. Although our company is an affiliate connected to the Ministry of Agriculture, we operate our facility day and night without any consideration with the logic of the private sector.

How did you meet HAUS?

Since we are active in the sector, we have the knowledge of the domestic and foreign companies that produce machinery in this sense. While making our choices, we decided not to prefer foreign companies considering many factors. We also decided to work with a local company in terms of contributing to our national economy. As we had the opportunity to provide it in Turkey, we did not prefer a foreign company, in parallel to this, we do not use the products from abroad. We knew HAUS as a local company operating in the sector. Our familiarity with our current General Manager Hakkı Gözlüklü, also with Ömer Gözlüklü and Ahmet Gözlüklü is quite old. We have decided to continue to work with HAUS company as our current machine meets our expectations and demands. Last year we bought 2, and this year 1 complete line plants. At present, our plant has 3 olive oil plants owned by HAUS, and in addition to this, we have 1 line of pomace plant which we call secondary extraction.

What did you consider when choosing a machine?

HAUS is as close as a phone to us. Wecan even communicate with the phone comfortably with all the mates in any unit of HAUS, including the manager position, the craftsmen or the board members. This is one of the reasons why we prefer HAUS. Service facilities, or a sudden intervention in case of any need for service that occurs or may occur in the machine during the season are very important features for us. HAUS provides us with these opportunities so that neither we nor the manufacturers we serve can suffer.

As the brand we worked with before HAUS had very few or limited service opportunities in Turkey and inadequacies in service, we already received service from HAUS when we needed it. In case of a sudden intervention, we used to reach the solution by calling HAUS before the service of the previous brand. Also, the service of HAUS in the bay is a huge plus for us. When buying a new machine, we decided to work with HAUS considering this situation and its elements.

Why should Agricultural Credit be preferrred, what makes you different?

As an institution, we buy farmers’ products a bit costlier than other factories and affiliates. One of the duties of Agricultural Credit Cooperatives is to keep balance in the market. It is, on the one hand, to provide affordable goods to consumers and, on the other hand, to protect the value of the agricultural products by making a balanced purchase, without killing the market prices. This is our most important mission as a company. Within the scope of the utilization of agricultural products, we already buy both olive and olive oil. In this context, we are shown as an exemplary business in terms of price stability and payment in the region.
